3 To See At The Fringe: Magic acts
Sleight-of-hand stunts, psychological puzzles and cerebral comedy
Back in 2009, Malmö magician Charlie Caper (Free Fringe Liquid Room, 8–30 August, 6.30pm) conquered all in competitive telly show Talang, essentially Sweden’s Got Talent. He’s performed a lot of magic tricks in the interim period so he comes back to Edinburgh fully formed with sleight-of-hand trickery. Christian Lavey is the mentalist behind Mindreading And Other Freaking Wonders (Braw Venues Hill Street, 7–30 August, 3.45pm) for which you should prepare to get involved. Truth and trust are on the line in Hoax, the latest Colin Cloud (Pleasance Courtyard, 5–30 August, 7.30pm) extravaganza to hit the very big room just off Pleasance. You may well leave that room a very different person from the one who entered it. Bold claim.
