3 To See: Music at La Belle Angele
Harp compositions, a spoken-word dance merger, and a noughties alt-rock reunion make up La Belle's Fringe line-up

After bringing a fine slate of indie, pop and alternative gigs to the city centre last August, the just-off Cowgate venue flings its doors wide to another strong array of contemporary music makers. LA-based harp genius Mary Lattimore (7 August, 1pm) strings us along in a wonderful way. Bone up on her superb Silver Ladders album ahead of time. Antony Szmierek (26 August, 7pm) unleashes his ‘poetry pop’ on the crowd, channelling a touch of The Streets but with added perm and mouser vibes. Difficult to fully appreciate the summer buzz that The Magic Numbers (22 August, 7pm) brought to the UK charts back in 2005 when they first arrived and while this quartet (comprising two pairs of siblings) have been fairly quiet in the last eight years, their return is most welcome.
