The Dear Hunter

The Dear Hunter

18 Sept 2026 - 23 Sept 2026

Anachronistic and timeless in equal measure, the narrative of The Dear Hunter existed in both the past and the present, its detailed plot standing simultaneously as an age-old and new age fable. As that tale progressed, so did Crescenzo’s art, his experimental compositions blurring the line between different genres to create a sound that was – and still is – unique to the band.

27 Sept 2026 - 27 Sept 2026

This event will take place in EartH Hall. Night Terrors will be hosting a double-bill of She Past Away + ACTORS at Dalston's EartH Hall this September. SHE PAST AWAY is a dark wave/post-punk duo, consisting of Volkan Caner (vocal, guitars and songwriting) and Doruk Ozturkcan (drums, synths and production). Experimenting old/new aesthetic of synth music into their core guitar stuff, She Past Away forged a sound, an attitude, and a sensibility, conveyed through a minimalist poetry sung in Turkish, which sweeps the audience through a dense, continual epic trip in both their recordings and live performances. ACTORS is a Canadian post-punk/darkwave band from Vancouver, formed in 2012 by Jason Corbett (vocals, guitar), known for their cinematic, synth-driven sound that blends classic 80s new wave with modern flair, alongside Shannon Hemmett (keyboards, vocals), Kendall Wooding (bass, vocals), and Adam Fink (drums). They gained prominence with albums like It Will Come To You (2018) and Acts of Worship (2021), blending moody atmospheres, driving rhythms, and anthemic hooks, establishing themselves as key figures in the contemporary darkwave scene. Gia Margaret

Gia Margaret

7 Sept 2026 - 10 Sept 2026

Every artist has to discover their voice. Gia Margaret didn’t find herself until she lost hers. With a vocal inju ry that kept her from singing for years, she developed other musical languages, mastering the grammar of an intricate, homey form of ambient music pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. Now, her physical voice healed and her artistic voice ho ned, she comes full circle with Singing, her first vocal album since 2018’s There’s Always Glimmer. Led by soft piano lines that fall like breath on glass, the music on Singing evidences the same jeweler’s sensitivity to detail that she developed in her silence. “There was a time when I really didn’t know if I would sing again. So once I healed, there was a lot of internal pressure to come back strong,” Margaret says. “I didn’t know who I was anymore. So it felt like beginning again, and reconnecting with these very old, old parts of myself.” This feeling of intermixed alienation and rediscovery is palpable across the album. In opener “Everyone Around Me Dancing,” she watches a party from the wings, aware of how her body keeps her from communal joy while al so providing new modes of self- knowledge. Shut out from the scene, she is “closer to the ground, the planet.” In “Alive Inside,” she’s so far away from the source that she’s praying to whoever might hear (“a god, a friend that’s gone, a spirit”). As her voice rises, it seems to be trapped in a web of distortion; it’s as if in her pursuit, she’s pushing at the very boundaries of what can be said. The process of making Singing was one of learning how to trust each of those feelings. The album was partially recorded in London with Frou Frou’s Guy Sigsworth, who helped Margaret unify the spree of ideas she had for “Good Friend,” an album highlight that includes Gregorian chant by ILĀ and turntable scratches, among many other things. David Bazan and Amy Millan also make appearances, as do Kurt Vile and Sean Carey, while Margaret’s longtime collaborator Doug Saltzman plays on and co-produces much of the record. Deb Talan, previously of The Weepies, lends her voice, piano, and guitar to the album's closing- and definitive-statement, "E-Motion." Gia Margaret is always singing. Every note of this album sings a warm requiem to her past selves; every layer sings her future self into being. Across the album, she applies the lessons of speechlessness-the quasirational ways we communicate without communicating, the way formless sound can cut to the heart of things like a scalpel- to her own artistic voice. Presented by FORM. 16+ event. (16-17 with a responsible adult 18+,1:1)
Robert Finley

Robert Finley

6 Mar 2027 - 6 Mar 2027

Robert Finley, perhaps one of the last true bluesmen of our time, presents a swaggering tour of blues, soul and funk sharing stories from the swamps of Louisiana. Prior to music success, Robert was once a skilled carpenter and is an army veteran. Having overcome life challenges such as divorce and an automobile accident, it wasn't until losing his sight that his life perspective changed, forcing him to retire from carpentry and instead finally pursing his long-delayed music career. Collaborating with producer and frontman Dan Auberbach of The Black Keys, Finley's new album Black Bayou, produced under the Easy Eye Sound Studio, reflects stories of struggle and celebration. Embodying a raw Louisiana storyteller showcasing the impact the South has had on the worlds music, catch him November for an authentic performance of karmic rock and bubbling blues.

Italy in the 1970s was a turbulent place. I was lucky to find the art school open more than two or three days a week. Either it was on strike or closed for the celebration of a saint’s day. It was very chaotic. I began to feel restless and as though I was missing out on Italy. I left the Accademia after one year. Laura Papi, a family friend, encouraged me to do more with the songs I had been writing in Florence and to think about putting together an album. One day she gave me a present of a little Grundig tape recorder. I couldn’t double-track, but it inspired me to keep writing songs. In the autumn of 1971 we went down to Rome where Laura, together with her friend the actor Franco Leo, had managed to arrange an audition for me at RCA. I remember sitting on the edge of a big office chair in front of some very austere-looking men in suits, playing my songs. When I had finished they asked me to go outside and wait. I thought, “Oh well, that’s that.” A few minutes later, the door opened and I was presented with a ten-year contract with IT Dischi, a subsidiary of RCA. It felt like a life sentence, but I signed on the dotted line. IT Dischi put me into some small studios in Rome to start laying down the songs. Every week for a month I set off from Florence on my 250cc Ducati motorbike. I had a kind of Easy Rider chromed hoop welded on to the back in order to strap my guitar on for the journey. But when I arrived at the studios after many hours on the autostrada, the guitar was almost impossible to tune and my hands were terribly cramped. The sound engineer was an angling enthusiast and he seemed more interested in fly-fishing than in recording. I remember watching him through the control room window. When the red light came on and I started to play, he would put his legs up on the mixing desk and disappear behind a fishing manual. I became despondent; it wasn’t working. But IT Dischi came to my rescue and introduced me to some Scottish musicians who, like me, had signed a chunk of their lives away. They had made a little home studio in their basement flat in Rome, and it was there, with their help, that Dreaming With Alice eventually came to life on two 4-track Revox tape recorders over the space of a couple of weeks. The studio wasn’t very well soundproofed so we couldn’t use drums, but I think in the end that was a good thing. I remember hearing Song For Wilde being rewound and thinking that backwards it sounded like a mysterious Celtic reel. I thought IT Dischi would never agree to including it, but they did. I don’t think I realised at the time that allowing artists a lot of freedom was part of their ethos. Rome was a very exciting place to be at that time. Fellini‘s recent film Satyricon had caused a sensation. Pasolini was at Cinecitta filming Decameron. Laura knew quite a few directors and actors and we often went down to the studios. Franco was appearing in Carmelo Bene‘s extraordinary film Salome which included a scene of him carrying a naked girl up a flight of stairs towards a screen made of 50,000 plastic roses. Italians had - and still have - a great love of the surreal. An unknown English boy with very long hair singing songs about witches eating watermelon seemed to appeal to them. Dario Fo, who used to come round to Laura’s house with a whole crowd of artists, actors and writers, asked me to join his theatre company, an offer I didn’t take up which I’ve regretted ever since. After the recording IT Dischi introduced me to the great Lucio Dalla, who at the time was also signed to RCA. He was going on tour in Italy that summer and IT Dischi thought that adding me into the tour would be a good way of promoting my album. Lucio and I had an immediate rapport and I joined his band. He was already a tremendous star, a highly regarded and influential songwriter. He became a kind of guru for me. We travelled far down into Calabria and around Sicily, playing at huge outdoor festivals. The further south we played the more we could feel the political fervour. Lucio was a popular hero in the south. We would play a little warm-up number before he came on. When he finally appeared the crowd roared. He would punch the air, and tens of thousands reciprocated the gesture with cries of “Lucio! Lucio!”. In the middle of these highly charged sets, Lucio would introduce me as his “amico inglese” and I would play Lute and Flute, which IT Dischi thought of as “the single”. Shortly after the tour of Italy I went back to England. I thought if I was going to take the music seriously I would have to try it there. Dreaming With Alice was released in Italy after I had left the country. I received a few copies of the album in the post and I remember wishing that the photo on the cover hadn’t been so severely cropped. In the original I’m playing my guitar alongside my little brother Wilde who is strumming away on his miniature toy guitar. I wasn’t aware of any reviews. I think there was just one pressing of Alice. Many years later I was amazed to find, via the internet, that it had been bootlegged (at least twice) and had become something of a cult record. In 2006, music writer and record sleuth Richard Morton Jack tracked me down and set the wheels in motion with another release. Some years later, record label owner and collector Egon Alapatt got in touch and I was delighted when in 2020 his LA-based Now-Again Records released an all-analogue vinyl transfer from the original master tapes.” Mark Fry For more information on access at EartH, please see our FAQs here: https://bit.ly/44dzl75 or contact us at [email protected] EartH is a social enterprise committed to supporting new musicians, with music studios in the venue that are completely free for young artists to use. Daisy Rickman Plays Nick Drake's Guitar
This event will take place in EartH Theatre. Daisy Rickman performs the songs of Nick Drake on two guitars which bookended Nick’s short but hugely influential career. The first is Nick Drake’s earliest guitar, a Spanish-made nylon-string Estruch guitar purchased in December 1964 for £13 on Marlborough High Street. Nick used the Estruch to practice in earnest during his time at a tutorial college in Birmingham and while busking in Aix-Marseille, France, in 1967. The Estruch is best viewed as the "songwriting companion" where many of his complex fingerpicking patterns and unique tunings were first experimented with Several tracks that appeared on his 1969 debut, such as "Three Hours" and "Fruit Tree," were refined during this period. Demos recorded in Robert Kirby's dorm room at Caius College, Cambridge in 1968 feature him playing acoustic arrangements that likely originated on the Estruch or his early steel-string. By the time he entered Sound Techniques studio to record the official album (May 1968 - April 1969), he had largely transitioned to steel-string guitars. However, his arranger Robert Kirby remembered him also having his "Spanish guitar" (the Estruch) in the studio. It is often speculated that the softer, more intimate nylon-string sound heard on tracks like "Day Is Done" or "Way to Blue" (early sessions) may have been recorded with the Estruch. The second guitar is a 1972 Martin 000-28, purchased it from the Ivor Mairants Musicentre in London on 13 August 1973 (shortly after Pink Moon was released). It is believed Nick bought this guitar to replace his earlier steel-string instruments, including a Levin LS-18 and Martin D-28, both of which were reportedly destroyed or sold during his final years of deteriorating health. The Martin 000-28 was the primary instrument used during his last recording sessions in July 1974. It provided the tone for his final songs: "Black Eyed Dog," "Rider on the Wheel," "Hanging on a Star," "Voice from the Mountain," and "Tow the Line". Unlike the larger dreadnoughts he used earlier, the 000-28 has a smaller "Auditorium" body style. Following Nick's death, the guitar was given by his father to their family friend Brian Wells. It was later returned to the Nick Drake Estate and remains in the possession of his sister, Gabrielle Drake. Bright Phoebus Revisited

Bright Phoebus Revisited

8 Sept 2026 - 8 Sept 2026

This event will take place in EartH Theatre. Bright Phoebus, Lal and Mike Waterson’s 1972 folk-noir masterpiece, has long been recognised as one of British music's legendary lost records. Following the parting of ways of The Watersons and freed from the strictures of folk orthodoxy, Lal and Mike Waterson’s love of words allowed them to serve the needs of their songs in ways that weren’t possible when singing already written songs. Featuring performances from Lal, Mike and Norma Waterson, Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson, Ashley Hutchings, Dave Mattacks, Tim Hart and Maddy Prior, amongst others, the album is now recognised as a forward-thinking benchmark for the genre. Fans include Arcade Fire, Stephen Malkmus, Billy Bragg, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley - the latter two performed the record themselves in 2013 on the Bright Phoebus Revisited tour. Bright Phoebus Revisited celebrates the cult folk album, featuring family members Marry Waterson and Eliza Carthy performing the songs alongside special guests, including Lankum’s Daragh Lynch, Matt Deighton, Martyn Barker and Ben Nicholls. Novara Media’s Downstream Irl - Can Capitalism Be Fixed?
This event will take place in EartH Theatre. Can Capitalism Be Fixed? Join us for our next Downstream IRL, where Aaron Bastani will be sitting down with one of the world’s most influential economists, Professor Mariana Mazzucato, to discuss her latest book The Common Good Economy. Our economic system is broken. The climate crisis is accelerating. Inequality is deepening. Public trust is crumbling. Wealth concentrates in fewer hands while governments scramble to fix what markets can't do, rather than to shape them from the outset. But what if we did things differently? Aaron and Mariana will be discussing what it would mean to radically reimagine the economy around the ‘common good’ rather than private profit, and whether it's possible - or indeed desirable - to fix capitalism. What does the fragmentation of Britain’s political landscape tell us about the public appetite for change? What might a serious industrial strategy for the 2030s look like? What can we learn from the successes of left leadership in Mexico and Spain? Is mission-oriented innovation - from a green transition to AI - really possible? If so, why has the state been so bad at capturing the value it helps to create? To warm things up, Ash Sarkar will first sit down with long-serving Labour MP, and former Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell. They’ll discuss whether Britain is ready for socialism in the next decade, if the Greens can offer meaningful answers and - if the system itself is broken - whether a change in political leadership is adequate. Expect big questions, bold analysis, and the kind of conversation you simply won’t find anywhere else. Doors will open at 6.30pm and the event will begin at 7.30pm. You'll have the chance to grab a copy of Mariana's book The Common Good Economy, alongside merch at our stall in the bar. We ask allies to only attend with friends who are from those communities and to consider the space they take up as the venue has limited capacity and our events usually sell out. If you are attending as an ally you must purchase the correct ticket type (do not buy a concession or general admission ticket) as we only admit a very limited number to ensure the space remains overwhelmingly a space for our communities. Event info: This event is 18+ and you will need ID for entry! No ID = no entry Doors close at 2am Tickets are non-refundable, however, if the event sells out, you can return your ticket on DICE and it will be offered to the DICE Waiting List. Accessibility: EartH is mostly wheelchair accessible with an accessible bar and toilet. Unfortunately the chillout room is not wheelchair accessible as it is up a flight of stairs with no lift access. We offer free tickets to PAs/carers - please contact us directly at [email protected] if you would like one. You must do this at least 24 hours before the event. If you need a queue jump for accessibility reasons please inform a member of staff and they will let you skip the queue. Smoke machines, flashing lights and strobe lighting will be used throughout the night on the dancefloor. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any further questions re. access, or if there is anything we can do to make Gal Pals more accessible for you. Welfare: Safe Only will be providing welfare support for this event. They will be highly recognisable in their neon pink high vis vests. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, unwell or someone is making you feel uncomfortable, please speak to someone from the welfare team. All of their team are highly trained in conflict resolution, de-escalation and drug awareness/response. They centre harm reduction in everything they do and are here for you. Presented by EartH. This is an 18+ event.
Jasmine Myra

Jasmine Myra

27 Oct 2026 - 4 Nov 2026

Elegant. Grounding. In full bloom. Jasmine Myra makes a statement with her third album Where Light Settles. The composer, bandleader and saxophonist is a distinctive and confident voice in UK music. The new record shows her evolution since her other critically acclaimed works Horizons (2022) and Rising (2024). Where Light Settles is a collection of nine beautiful and powerfully grounded compositions. On it, Myra expresses thoughts on life, growth, and progression through music. It’s also powered by her vision of duality. Bittersweet and intimate yet expansive.
Feeble Little Horse

Feeble Little Horse

21 Nov 2026 - 24 Nov 2026

Feeble Little Horse is a critically acclaimed American noise-pop and indie rock band formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2021. Known for blending blown-out, glitchy, and fuzzy guitars with sweet, pop-centric melodies and deadpan vocals, they craft an intentionally imperfect, DIY sound.
